The night of Drawn to Develop 2009!!!

D2D 2 happened a few nights ago and what an amazing night it was! I'm so happy to have been a part of such a great event for such a great cause..Street Kids International.

Here is my contribution to this years group show..

..inspired by this drawing by
18 year old Ranjan Kumar who lives in Patna, India..
Ranjan's Story:

"I live in the NGO called BALSAKA. I study in 7th Standard. Now I am learning about tailoring and I work as a volunteer for the ‘Childline’ – a help line for kids who are in some kind of trouble or have problems and no one to talk to.
I want to start a tailoring business for my family and for my future. I will do a tailoring business so that I don’t have to be dependent on others and my life will be better. I have too many problems. I have to face my poverty and my lack of family situation. I have no knowledge about my business yet but now I will start to learn. I got to learn many things so that now I can start a business well. I have an idea about my business start up costs and operating costs. I will also help others with the information and by being a good example of a good business man and a good person."

Drawn to Develop 2009

I'm excited to have been invited to participate in Drawn to Develop again this year. After last years great event, I can't wait!...

It will take place on October 15th at the fermenting Cellar at the Distillery District (Toronto) and all proceeds will go to Street Kids International.

Myself and 42 of Canada's finest photographers had a mission to create a one of a kind print based on a youth drawing. The prints will be auctioned off at this Gala event. You can see the roster below (click on the poster to make it bigger).

There will also be some great food and live entertainment throughout the night. If you are a fan or art photography or just ready for a good time then come out!!!

Please go to www.drawntodevelop.com to buy tickets and for more info.

This is the drawing by Ranjan that served as inspiration for my photo.

Drawn to Develop - Thursday October 16th

. .. ...so I'm happy to be taking part in the first ever Drawn to Develop event happening on Thursday. It's a photography event in support of street kids international. Featuring 40 Canadian photographers such as Floria Sigismondi, Russel Monk, Ishi, Jordan Eady, Brendan Meadows and me (yeh yeh). For a complete list of participants go to drawntodevelop.com.

The task was to use drawing from a street youth as inspiration for a photograph. The prints will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to street kids international. Art inspiring art for a good cause. It's all good.

Click here to read Heather Mortons blog entry about the event.

Cheers.
