Drawn to Develop - Thursday October 16th

. .. ...so I'm happy to be taking part in the first ever Drawn to Develop event happening on Thursday. It's a photography event in support of street kids international. Featuring 40 Canadian photographers such as Floria Sigismondi, Russel Monk, Ishi, Jordan Eady, Brendan Meadows and me (yeh yeh). For a complete list of participants go to drawntodevelop.com.

The task was to use drawing from a street youth as inspiration for a photograph. The prints will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to street kids international. Art inspiring art for a good cause. It's all good.

Click here to read Heather Mortons blog entry about the event.

Cheers.

Here is the drawing I worked with and my photo...

Only in Europe... .. .

parrworld... .. .

I was in Munich for the first time about a month ago when I decided to go to the Haus Der Kunst to take in some contemporary art..

As I was approaching the entrance I saw a security guard tell a guy to go around the back, so I followed. A red carpet led me into a big fancy lobby full of suits, dresses, and champagne. Clearly I had walked in at the right moment as everyone began squeezing to enter another room. So I entered also.

It turned out to be an exclusive unveiling of Martin Parr's Parrword show. Martin Parr is a fantastic British Photographer who also is a collector of photography and many different things.

Parrworld premieres Luxury (his latest series) and also takes you deeper into his world with his variety of collections.
This is a great show, so if you are in Munich before Aug. 17th than make sure you pass by. Or, if you're in Europe than make sure you go to Munich. It's full of all kinds of goodies such as Parrworld.

Hamburg, the odd.

I was going to call this entry Hamburg, the funny (part 2), but upon further inspection I decided against it... I found this at a grocery store here in hamburg. I little box of salty licorice candies called Spunk. There is also a label on the package that says something like candy for adults, not for children. Weird huh?.. I haven't tried them yet... .. .

Hamburg, the cool.

People in Hamburg like they're cool bikes, then again Europeans in general like they're cool bikes.. .I'm not necessarily talking about this one, but the bikes you see here are more this and that than the ones we've got in north america. For sure.. .

Hamburg, the hi-tech.

Every metro station here looks different from the rest.. . Here's an example. This one made me feel a bit like I was in the future.

Hamburg, the funny.

So I came across these at a grocery store in Hamburg and quickly came to the conclusion that Germans are pretty funny.. apparently these lil' guys are filled with a yummy white creamy foam and each one is even shaped like a mini (beeeeep)... .. . Mini Dickmann's are enjoyed by many from young to old :)
