Bank of China Tower

I was cleaning and came across this painting (of the Bank of China Tower) I did in Hong Kong in 2006.  It brought me back to being there and seeing this building almost everyday. It was my favorite part of the skyline.

Black Crab

A friend/Origami Master gave me this little (1.5" x 1") black crab. I've never seen anything like it. I shot these macro pics and they remind me of ink blots.

Drawn to Develop 2010

I'm taking part in Drawn to Develop again this year. This is the third year that it's happening and also my third year taking part. Canadian photographers are challenged to create a photo based on a street youth's drawing. The prints are auctioned off at a gala event happening on Thursday October 14th with all the proceeds going to Street Kids International. For more info and to buy tickets to the event please visit drawntodevelop.com

Hope to see you there!

My drawing this year came from 9 year old Suman from Nepal. Here's his drawing and what he said when a youth worker asked him about his drawing..

SUMAN – I drew a plane.
Q: Why did you draw a plane? Do you want to be a pilot?
SUMAN – No, I want to fly in a plane and go away from here.
Q: Where will you go?
SUMAN – I don’t know, maybe America. I will go away from here and I won’t have to come back. I drew the flower also, but I won’t have to take it with me. There will be many more flowers abroad.

My friend Dan was on set video taping the day of my shoot and made this sweet little making of video. Make sure you have the volume on..

Moving Finds

I recently moved and while packing I came across these Hasselblad pics from a couple of summers ago. I saw them once after getting them developed and then they disappeared . I'm happy to be reunited with them...

Random iphone pic #42

Going to Aberfoyle can be an interesting Sunday morning activity, especially when on a cleanse. You can find some sweet old treasures for a good price.

I first saw
Dolly at a couple of weekends ago and thought she was pretty cool. I saw her again this weekend and she looked even better. I'm not quite sure why I'm drawn to her, but I am. I think it's the background colors paired with the greys, and the fact that someone spent a lot of time on this.. Maybe next time I'll by her. Hmmm..

I love the surprise element of shooting with film. Here are some pics I just developed from November's Japan adventures. I've still got some more to develop...

To Haiti With Love

Shortly after I created the Haiti inspired Hang On Like An Octopus print , I found out about To Haiti With Love. It's an initiative by artists from around the world to raise money for the rebuilding of Haiti. On the website you can buy electronic postcards of the art to send to people with a custom message attached. So cute, right?

Here is my contribution to the cause. Click here, http://www.tohaitiwithlove.co.uk/donate-and-send.php?a=123 to see it on the site..

..a list of artists involved.

Hang On Like An Octopus

I ‪wanted to do something to help the people of Haiti‬ during this difficult time, so I created a design, cut it out of a lino block and printed a limited edition of 40.
Now you can own an original piece of art and help Haiti at the same time.

I'll send you a print (to anywhere in the world that is accessible by post) and donate (the remainder after postage costs) to Plan Canada on your behalf. Your donation will help children and families rebuild their lives after the devastation caused by the earthquake that fell upon Haiti on January 12, 2010.

"Hang On Like An Octopus" measures 51/4" x 81/2" and is printed with oil based ink on Arches 140lb hot pressed watercolor paper.

You can donate $20, $30, or $40. Any of these amounts will be greatly appreciated...

Your Donation

..please feel free to share this with anyone who you think may be in interested in purchasing a piece of art and helping out the Haitian people in their time of need.

Thank you.
